Frequently Asked Questions
How are projects billed?
Projects are billed at an hourly rate. A county sized map takes anywhere from 40 - 60 hours depending on well density. A 25 section map may take up to 2-3 hours.
A quote will always be given in advance for the expected amount of time a project will take.
Projects with an estimated completion time over 30 hours will need to pay a 20% deposit before mapping begins.
The amount of time a project takes will be dependent on how much data is displayed on the map(s). Once a general production map base is created, it is only a matter of a few extra hours to add additional data (IPs, initial completion dates, last monthly average production, coring data, last date of production, etc.).
What formats are available for completed maps?
Maps will be available digitally (PDF, TIFF, PNG, JPG) and e-mailed or placed on a flash-drive.
Single, hard copy maps can be printed and delivered to you at no additional cost. If multiple copies of a map are desired, if you would like to have the map laminated, or if a map must be mailed, there will be a small, additional fee.
Where is data sourced from?
Oil & Gas completion & production data is sourced from the most reputable data quarry available, S&P Global (IHS), who in the late 1990s' acquired a wealth of data from Petroconsultants, Petroleum Information/Dwights LLC.
Production & formation data displayed on production maps will portray how the original operator filed their completion reports with the State the well was drilled in. It is not uncommon for companies to miss-file the producing formation name. A deeper analysis on producing formations can be done with well logs. If an in depth analysis is of interest, please include that information on the initial inquiry.
What software does Flatlands utilize?
Petra is used for mapping while Powertools is used for economic runs & decline curve generation.
